This is what Anna shared about the party!- “As we celebrate New Year in the peak of our hot Australian summer, I chose a party theme which reflects the brilliant colours and vibrancy of life surrounding the sun and surf of our tropical life here. My NEON BOHO New Years Eve party was held in our home for about 80 guests.
As always, the focal point of all of my parties is the dessert table. I absolutely love spending many weeks thinking through every detail of my theme, from the backdrop, colour palette and desserts, down to the decoration of the drinkware and cake toppers.
For this party I was inspired by a couple of brightly coloured chalkboards I found at a local store. I used one as the dessert table backdrop and the other to write a NY message on. I found a few intensely coloured neon faux deer on sale in a local supermarket after Christmas. These also became the inspiration for the theme. Spray paint became my best friend as I painted cardboard deer heads and made my own cake stands from vintage plates glued to candlesticks from IKEA. In keeping with the boho theme, I decorated cake stands, drink bottles and even cake pops with cute, bright feathers and pom pom strips I bought in craft stores. A favorite element of the display was the hand crocheted bunting I made and hung along the backdrop.
I always involve my daughters in party planning and enlisted help decorating all of the mason jars and glass bottles with feathers, washi tape, and string, all in neon colours.
The dessert table consisted of a striped pink, orange and yellow feature cake with a cute zebra placed on top, coconut cake pops, mini vanilla cupcakes and delicious Nutella mousse pots decorated with hot pink plastic spoons and fabric.
The girls and I had a blast putting this party together and it ranks as one of my favorites as I am a stickler for bright, happy colours that pop like the sunshine.”
